Fleckner + Simon UPDATE

Another F+S employee has been certified as Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP)

afspThe more complex the technology, the more experts are needed for functional safety. Therefore we are pleased that another F+S employee successfully passed the demanding exam for the "Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP)". We congratulate Dr. Czekansky on an excellent exam result of 94%.

Quality is a major issue at F+S: For more than 15 years already F+S GmbH has been certified according to the latest respective version of ISO 9001.

In September 2016, another certification was performed and completed "without any deviations" following F+S's good old tradition. This was the first time that the audit was performed according to the revised ISO 9001:2015.

Automotive Security

Security

Autonomous cars are an increasingly hot topic in the media; manufacturers are planning to introduce them incrementally. This results in raised demands on both  "safety" and "security", the latter of which has evolved from specialised subjects (e.g. for immobilisers) to areas that apply to most electronic control units.

For many years now, F+S have been working in security related projects and gaining experience on how to defend against specific threats in the automotive field. As the proverbial chain is only as strong as its weakest link security can only be adequate if all parts are at their highest quality.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you want us to help you master your growing security challenges with our experienced SW-engineers, designers, testers, and consultants.

Autonomous driving: our talk at the TU Darmstadt

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Hochberger, TU Darmstadt (Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology), had invited us to give a talk during the "2016 Industrial Colloquium on Data Technology".

Deckblatt

We picked an especially interesting subject for the event: “Autonomous driving: dream or nightmare? Safety + security in cars is possible!” The talk was given on 12/07/2016 by our managing director Josef Horstkötter.

The talk focused on the question of how to handle the software risks of autonomous cars through professional development activities. This involves two aspects: safety of internal systems and security against external manipulations.

Attendance was good and the audience listened with interest. The talk was followed by a long, lively discussion. Of course, the accident involving a Tesla and the security problem at BMW were also mentioned. This also shows the topicality of this issue.

We would like to thank those who attended for their lively participation!

The handout from the talk is available (only in German) for download here:
